What is the breast cancer survival rate?

Today, breast cancer survival rate is quite high. It is a treatable disease where the key to surviving it is early detection. If the cancer is diagnosed on its early stages, then the more likely that you will be able to survive it as treatments for it will be done before the cancer reaches the later or advanced stages.

The current survival rate for all stages of breast cancer combined is 86 percent for five year survival rate and about 76 percent for ten year survival rate.

Here is the five year survival rate for breast cancer according to stage:

• Stage 0 – 100 percent
• Stage I – 100 percent
• Stage IIA – 92 percent
• Stage IIB – 81 percent
• Stage IIIA – 67 percent
• Stage IIIB – 54 percent
• Stage IV – 20 percent

These are only estimates and some actually lives longer than 7 years. It will depend on the medications given as well as the lifestyle changes made.
